How does skin regenerate naturally?

Skin is a living tissue that constantly renews itself. The epidermis replaces cells every 28–42 days — old keratinocytes shed, new ones migrate from the basal layer. The dermis regenerates more slowly: fibroblasts produce collagen and elastin, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) degrade old fibres, and new ones take their place.

The problem with age is twofold: production declines (fibroblasts become less active), while degradation accelerates (UV, oxidative stress, hormonal changes). Effective "skin regeneration" means restoring this balance — by boosting production and limiting degradation at the same time.

Three pillars of effective regeneration

01
Stimulating fibroblasts — spur skin into repair mode

Signalling peptides + growth factors

Fibroblasts are the cells responsible for producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in the dermis. They can be stimulated two ways: with signalling peptides (which mimic collagen degradation — fibroblasts "think" collagen is breaking down and produce new collagen) and with growth factors (EGF, IGF-1, FGF — signals that stimulate cell proliferation).

Larens Biopeptide Serum Spray delivers peptide fractions from lumican, decorin and histones — shown in WellU studies to increase collagen synthesis by 671%. BioRenew Tissue Face Mask contains BIO-Placenta with 5 growth factors, acting as an "intensive stimulation" once a week.

02
Nourishing from within — amino acids and antioxidants

Marine collagen peptide supplementation + vitamin C

Fibroblasts stimulated by topical peptides still need building material — the amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline to synthesize new collagen fibres. Delivering them through supplements (Glowin'UP, Nutrivi Holistic Peptide Complex) via the bloodstream complements what topical skincare cannot replace.

Vitamin C is absolutely essential — it catalyzes the hydroxylation of proline and lysine, without which collagen's triple helix cannot form. A lack of vitamin C literally prevents functional collagen synthesis.

03
Protection against further damage

SPF + antioxidants + avoiding degrading factors

Regeneration is pointless if daily UV exposure simultaneously destroys collagen faster than it's produced. UVA radiation (through clouds, windows, year-round) activates MMPs — collagen-degrading enzymes. SPF50 cream (Larens SunVera) blocks this mechanism. Ferulic acid (in Larens Suncare) and resveratrol (in Nutrivi Glowin'UP) neutralize free radicals generated by UV.

Other factors accelerating collagen degradation: smoking (strongly activates MMPs), sugar (glycation of collagen — alters fibre structure), disrupted sleep (reduces GH secretion that stimulates fibroblasts), alcohol (dehydration and reduced vitamin C absorption).

When does skin regenerate best?

At night — and that's not a metaphor. During sleep, growth hormone (GH) secretion increases, directly stimulating fibroblast activity. Body temperature drops slightly, which increases epidermal permeability to active ingredients. Skin isn't exposed to UV, mechanical stress or environmental pollution.

The optimal evening routine is: cleanse → peptide serum (Biopeptide Serum Spray) → targeted serum (Syn Ake Eye & More for expression lines) → night cream (Lifting Face Cream). Once a week, instead of cream — a BioRenew Tissue Face Mask with BIO-Placenta, 20 minutes of intensive regeneration.
